The National Commission of Women is also given powers to handle the dowry cases. In a landmark Supreme Court judgment a bench of Justice A.K Goel and Justice U.U Lalit directed that no arrest or coercion should be taken on dowry-related cases without ascertaining the veracity of allegations.Â
